Apple has finally decided to discontinue their Thunderbolt Display. The Apple branded monitor was released in 2011 and unfortunately has still not been updated since 2011. An Apple spokesman had this to say about the company discontinuing their only branded monitor, “We’re discontinuing the Apple Thunderbolt Display. It will be available through Apple.com, Apple’s retail stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers while supplies last. There are a number of great third-party options for Mac users.”
Could this possibly mean that Apple is working on a 4K or 5K display to be released in the fall with the new rumored MacBook line with the new OLED panel on it?
Now would be a great time for Apple collectors to try and purchase the Thunderbolt Displays while Apple’s website and stores still have them. Although they are still very expensive and overpriced, just remember that Apple will not have them much longer. Plus, if you purchase one at an Apple Store, there’s still a good chance that you can get financing options on it!
